Telehealth Update (Public Health Emergency)

Date: 07/26/23

Heritage Health (Medicaid)

Because of Covid-19 we were in a Public Health Emergency (PHE). During a PHE some rules are changed to make healthcare access more flexible. The PHE has now ended. These services will go back to the way they were before the PHE.

One of the changes during the PHE was for telehealth. Telehealth is when you see a provider on a device like a phone or computer. You do not see a provider in-person. During the PHE there were more telehealth services allowed to help people get the care the needed.

We are not in a PHE now. Some telehealth services will go back to being only in-person. This includes but isn’t limited to:

  • Home health
  • Hospice assessments
  • Some behavioral health services
  • Some therapy services
  • Feeding services for children
  • Other medical services for children

It is important to Nebraska Medicaid and Nebraska Total Care that you still get the services you need. We want care to be easy to get and safe. We want you to get the right care for you needs.

If you need help getting care please call us. We are happy to help. The phone number is 1-844-385-2192 TTY: 711.
